How far does a 54 degree wedge really go?

That’s true! I often use mine for approach shots, but I stick with my 52 for those longer chips.

Sounds ideal! But have you ever had issues with gapping between your wedges? I’m thinking of getting a 60-degree.

I think the 54-degree wedge is fantastic for those 60 to 80 yards shots. What about you guys, do you find it useful in that range?

Absolutely! But sometimes I wonder if the distance change is more mental than anything.

I’ve had some hilarious misses with my 54-degree while I was trying to hit a flop shot. Thank goodness for friends who can laugh with you on the course!

Haha! I’ve been there too! What a great reminder to keep it light out there!

I find that most golfers underestimate their 54-degree wedge distance. With proper technique, it can go around 80 to 100 yards for many players. It’s all about your stance and swing mechanics!

Definitely! I’ve actually gotten mine to about 95 yards. Making sure to have the right grip and weight distribution is key.

I recommend practicing your chipping with the 54-degree. It not only enhances your distance but also improves your feel around the greens.

Great advice! I also think a slight wrist hinge can help generate more speed and distance on your shots.

Make sure your stance is slightly open to promote a better angle of attack. This can really add some extra yardage to your shots!

Totally agree! Also, focusing on a smooth and controlled swing rather than a rushed one can improve distance over time.

I find myself stuck between trying to hit it further versus precision. It’s tough to balance distance and accuracy with a wedge!

It’s a constant battle! Remember, the 54-degree wedge is designed for scoring shots. If you can get close to the pin consistently, that’s gold!

Do you guys think the type of ball you use affects distance? I’ve switched lately and noticed a difference with my 54-degree.

Absolutely! A softer ball can help with spin and control but may not travel as far. It’s a trade-off.

Funny enough, I once tried to crush a 54-degree shot and ended up hitting the ground instead! Lesson learned – control over power!

Haha, we’ve all been there! Just remember, practice makes perfect. Keep working on it!
