Looking for a free golf distance app - any recommendations?

Hi everyone, I’m an avid golfer looking to improve my game, and I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good free golf distance app? I’ve been keeping track of my distances manually, but I think using an app would be a lot more convenient and accurate.

I’m particularly interested in an app that can track my shot distances, club performance, and other key metrics to help me analyze my game and work on areas for improvement. Ideally, it would also have features like GPS course maps, wind/weather info, and the ability to log my rounds and track progress over time.

Do you have any favorite free golf apps that you’ve found to be reliable and helpful? I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions you can offer. Thanks in advance for your help!

For a free golf distance app, I’ve had good experiences with GolfShot. It provides accurate measurements to the green, hazards, and other course features. The GPS is reliable and the app is easy to use.

I agree, GolfShot is a great option. The distances it provides have been consistently accurate in my experience.

I’ve used the free version of the Golfshot app and found it to be pretty reliable. The distances it gives to the green and hazards are usually spot on. It’s a solid choice for a free golf distance app.

Another free option to consider is the SwingU Golf GPS app. I’ve found it to be highly accurate and user-friendly. The courses are well-mapped, and the app provides a nice range of features beyond just distance tracking.

SwingU is a great recommendation. I’ve used it a few times and found the distances to be very reliable. The app has a clean interface and is easy to navigate.

Has anyone tried the Hole19 Golf GPS app? I’m curious to hear how it compares to the other free options in terms of accuracy and overall user experience.

I’ve used Hole19 and found it to be pretty good, but not quite as accurate as GolfShot or SwingU. The app is easy to use, but the distance measurements can be a bit inconsistent at times.

I’ve been using the free version of the GolfLogix app and have been pretty happy with it. The distances seem accurate, and the app has a nice set of features like hazard tracking and scoring. It’s worth checking out if you’re looking for a free golf GPS option.

I’m a bit surprised no one has mentioned The Grint yet. That’s the free golf app I’ve had the best experience with. The distance tracking is super reliable, and I like the social features for connecting with friends on the course.

Oh, good call on The Grint! I’ve heard a lot of positive things about that app too. The social integration sounds like a nice bonus feature. I’ll have to check it out.

You know, at the end of the day, any of these free golf distance apps are going to be better than nothing. As long as they provide reasonably accurate yardages, that’s really all I’m looking for. I’ll probably just download a few and see which one I like the best.

Hi there! I’ve been using the free ‘Golf GPS’ app and it’s been really helpful for tracking distances and club recommendations. The course mapping is great and it even has live weather integration.

I’ve been using the ‘Swing by Swing’ app and it’s been great for shot-tracking and club recommendations. The course maps are pretty detailed too. Curious to hear if anyone has tried that one?

The free version of the ‘Golf Pad’ app has some really solid features like GPS distances, handicap tracking, and even a digital scorecard. I find it to be a great all-in-one solution.

I’ll have to check out the Golf GPS app, the distance and club recommendations sound super helpful. I’m currently using the free version of Golfshot and it’s been pretty good too.

I’ve had good luck with the free version of the ‘GolfLogix’ app. The course maps are detailed and the GPS is really accurate. Not sure how it compares to some of the other options, but it’s been a solid choice for me.

Hmm, lots of great options here. I’m kinda torn between trying Golf GPS or Swing by Swing. Anyone have strong opinions on which one is better for an average golfer like me?

I hear you, it can be tough to choose. I’d say Golf GPS and Swing by Swing are both solid choices. The weather integration in Golf GPS is a nice bonus, but Swing by Swing has really robust shot-tracking. Tough call, but either one should give you a great on-course experience.

Ugh, I tried the free version of Golfshot and was pretty underwhelmed. The UI was clunky and the features felt limited compared to some of the other apps mentioned here. Guess you get what you pay for, huh?
