Is it hard to join these leagues? I’d love to try but am a bit nervous about approaching others.

Not at all! Most leagues welcome newcomers, and everyone is eager to help you feel included.
Also, joining the club’s Facebook group can be a great way to stay in the loop about events and make initial connections.
I tried that, and it really worked for me! My first tournament was a blast, and I met a ton of friendly folks.

Are the community events often competitive? I’m not sure I’m ready for that level yet!

Most are laid-back and fun rather than overly competitive. Just go for the experience!
