Trying Out the Saw Putter Grip – Tips and Experiences?

Seeking Advice on the Saw Putter Grip

I’ve been hearing a lot about the saw putter grip lately and how it can help with putting issues, particularly the dreaded yips. I’m curious if anyone has tried it and what your experiences have been.

What is the Saw Putter Grip?

The saw grip is a unique putting technique that involves holding the putter with your dominant hand under the grip and the other hand on the side, similar to how you might hold a saw. This grip is said to minimize face rotation during the putting stroke, which can lead to more accurate putts.

Benefits of the Saw Grip

  • Reduced Face Rotation: This grip style can help stabilize the putter face, improving accuracy.
  • Helps with the Yips: Many golfers have claimed that switching to this grip has eased their putting anxiety.
  • Comfortable Feel: For some, the saw grip provides a more comfortable and natural feel, especially if you struggle with traditional grips.

Looking for Tips

If you’ve implemented this grip:

  • What adjustments did you make in your putting stance?
  • Did you notice a difference in your performance on the greens?
  • Are there specific drills you recommend to get used to this grip?

Sharing Experiences

It would be awesome to hear from anyone who’s successfully transitioned to the saw grip. Did you face any challenges? How long did it take to get comfortable? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m really considering the saw putter grip and I’m curious about how to choose the right size. Any thoughts on measuring hand size for this?

It’s important to measure your hand from the base of your palm to the tip of your longest finger. This will give you a good starting point for grip size!

Great point about putting style! I’ve noticed that my grip size impacts my accuracy. Anyone have tips on specific materials for the grip?

Also, consider your putting style. If you have a more relaxed grip, a larger grip might be beneficial. It’ll give you better control as you putt.

Material is key! Rubber grips are common and provide decent traction, while leather offers a premium feel but might be less durable. Choose based on your grip preferences!

Does anyone find that the shape of the grip matters? I’ve seen some with unique contours that seem interesting. Anyone tried those?

I’ve used a couple of contoured grips and they provide a nice fit for the hands. It really feels natural during the stroke!

I wonder how often I should replace the grip? I want to make sure I’m maintaining good performance.

Great question! Generally, if you notice wear or your grip feels slick, it’s time for a change. Depending on use, every 6-12 months is a good rule of thumb.

Seems reasonable! Are there any specific brands that are recommended for durability?

My friend swears by the Odyssey grips! He says they’re super comfortable and help him make more consistent putts. Have any of you tried them?

I’ve had good luck with SuperStroke grips. They offer great feedback and seem to last longer than others I’ve used.

I had an Odyssey grip and found it too squishy for my liking. Each to their own, I suppose!

Haha, I guess it comes down to personal preference! I tried one that was way too hard and felt like I was holding a baseball bat. Not fun!

I’ve recently switched to a saw putter grip, and the control I’ve experienced is phenomenal! It feels more stable during my stroke. Highly recommend giving it a shot!

I made the change a few months ago. The saw grip really does help with alignment! I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my putting accuracy. Everyone should try it out!

That’s interesting! I’ve struggled with alignment for years. Do you think the grip helps reduce tension in your hands?

I just started experimenting with the saw putter grip too. I agree about the comfort aspect, but I wonder if they can improve performance for everyone. Anyone gone back to a traditional grip?

Absolutely! Less tension means smoother strokes. Plus, it feels more natural in my hands! I’ve noticed my rounds are more enjoyable now.
