Playing in RI: Tips and Recommendations

When planning your golfing trip, consider the time of year you’re visiting. The best months for golfing in Rhode Island are late spring through early fall when the weather is more predictable and courses are in their prime condition.

Additionally, if you’re looking for something beyond just golf, consider checking out some of the local attractions. Many courses are close to beaches, historical sites, and great dining options that can make your golf day feel like a full experience.

What about you? Have any of you played on the best courses in RI? I’d love to hear your recommendations or any experiences you might want to share! Let’s keep the conversation going and discover the hidden gems together!

One of the highest-rated courses in RI is the Newport Country Club. It’s historically significant and the views are amazing! You’ll find plenty of challenging holes there.

I totally agree! Newport is stunning. Don’t forget about the Warwick Country Club; it’s often overlooked but has a fantastic layout and great conditions.

I’ve heard great things about the Metacomet Country Club as well, especially for its unique design and challenging course. It’s a must-try for serious golfers!

Definitely! Metacomet has a rich history too. But have you tried the Triggs Memorial Golf Course? It’s a public course that’s really well-kept.

Each course has its charm, but Triggs is great for players at all levels! I love how affordable it is, especially compared to some of the private clubs.

Exactly! Plus, the camaraderie on the course makes it even better. What about the scenic Narragansett Golf Club? It’s a beautiful spot.

Narragansett is lovely, but have you all played Point Judith Country Club? The coastal views bring a whole new level of enjoyment while playing!

Point Judith has stunning views for sure! However, I find the layout a little tricky. What do you think?

You’ve got a point, Cwilson. The tricky holes can make it frustrating but that’s part of the fun! I love testing my skills.

Exactly! Golf is all about the challenge! In a lighter mood, if I lost a ball for every tricky hole, I’d have my own golf ball factory!

Haha! That’s a good one, Castillovictoria! Reflecting on all this, I’d say the camaraderie on the course is what really makes any game special, regardless of the skill level.

Definitely check out the Ocean Course at Narragansett. It’s known for its stunning sea views and a well-equipped clubhouse. Plus, the dining options there are top-notch!

I’ve been there too! The practice areas are fantastic, especially if you’re looking to refine your short game.

The Shelter Harbor Golf Club is another gem. It has a very exclusive feel, with an elegant clubhouse and terrific dining choices. The services provided to members are very personalized.

I agree! Just make sure to book in advance because it fills up quickly during the summer months.

I found Montauk Downs to be a great spot too! The amenities are impressive, and the views of the surrounding area while dining are just as enjoyable as playing.

Honestly, golf is great, but I mostly go for the post-game drinks at the clubhouse! Anyone else have recommendations for the best 19th holes around RI?

Personally, I think the amenities at Warwick Country Club set it apart. Their practice facilities are superb, and the staff is exceptionally friendly.
