What are the best golf courses in West Virginia?

I’m planning a golfing trip to West Virginia and I’m curious about which courses are considered the best. I’ve heard a lot about the scenic views and unique challenges of the local courses.

Here are a few things I’d love to know:

  • Top Rated Courses: What have been your favorites and why?
  • Public vs Private: Are there any hidden gems that are open to the public?
  • Facilities: What type of amenities should I expect?
  • Pricing: Any insight into the cost of greens fees?

I’m specifically looking for places that offer a great experience, not just a round of golf. Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

The Greenbrier is definitely one of the top golf courses in West Virginia! It’s a classic, with tons of history and challenging holes. Can’t beat the scenery either!

I enjoyed my time at Stonewall Resort! The course is beautifully maintained and the layout is fun. Great for both beginners and experienced golfers.

Yeah! The views from the holes near the water are stunning. A real treat for the eyes and a great round!

Anyone tried the course at the Resort at Glade Springs? I hear good things about it. Just curious how it stacks up against the others mentioned here.

I played there last summer! The course was in great shape, and the staff was really friendly. Definitely worth it!

I’ve played a lot of courses in WV, but my favorite has to be Canaan Valley Resort. It offers both great golf and awesome scenic views.

Canaan Valley is special! The elevation changes make it really unique and challenging. Plus, it’s just a fun area to explore for a weekend.

Based on rankings, the Pete Dye Golf Club often comes up as one of the best. Has anyone here played it? What’s the experience like?

It really is top-notch! The layout is both tricky and beautiful. It requires some strategy but is incredibly rewarding!

I’m more of a casual golfer. Can anyone suggest a nice course that’s less intense but still fun? Something for a laid-back day out.

I’m surprised no one mentioned Oglebay Park! It’s affordable and has a good variety of holes that keep it interesting. A hidden gem in the state!

Oglebay always gets overshadowed, but it really does deserve more recognition. Great for a family day too!

Anyone ever have a laughable moment on the course? I once hit a ball and it landed in someone’s drink! Talk about a way to earn a free round!

I recently played at The Greenbrier and was blown away by its beauty. The course blends perfectly with the stunning landscape, and every hole offers a unique challenge!

Absolutely! The Greenbrier is a classic. Have you tried the Old White TPC course there? It’s known for its challenging layout too.

Another top course is Stonewall Resort. The views of the lake are fantastic, and the layout is really well thought out. It’s a great mix of fun and challenge.

I love Stonewall! The scenery is breathtaking, especially in the fall. It truly makes a day of golf even more special.
