What are the Best Golf Courses in Williamsburg, VA?

I’m planning a golf trip to Williamsburg, Virginia, and I’m eager to find out which golf courses are considered the best in the area. I’ve heard a lot about the golfing scene there, but I’m looking for some first-hand recommendations and insights on both public and private play options.

Potential Courses to Consider:

 • River Course at Kingsmill Resort: Known for its beautiful scenery and challenging layout. Has anyone played here recently?
 • Golden Horseshoe Golf Club: This seems to be a popular choice, especially the Green Course. I’d love to hear about people’s experiences!
 • Ford’s Colony: I’ve heard this is a great option as well; it’s supposed to be pretty well-maintained with some stunning holes.

What I’m Looking For:

I’m particularly interested in aspects like:

 • Course conditions: Are they well-kept?
 • Difficulty levels: Are they suitable for all skill types?
 • Amenities: What else do these courses offer? Any good practice facilities?
 • Pricing: What are the green fees like, and are there any deals or memberships worth considering?

If anyone can share their experiences or preferences, I would really appreciate it! Whether you’ve played these courses recently or have other recommendations in Williamsburg, I’m all ears. Thanks in advance for your help!

The best golf course in Williamsburg is undoubtedly Kingsmill Resort. The River Course is both challenging and scenic. I usually rate it a solid 9/10!

I totally agree! The staff is super friendly too, which always makes for a better day on the course.

If you’re looking for something less pricey, check out the Williamsburg National Golf Club. It’s well-kept and great for all skill levels, I’d give it an 8/10.

That’s a great suggestion! I found it to have a very relaxing vibe and the layout is enjoyable.

I’ve played at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club as well, which is really top-notch. The Gold Course is definitely the highlight, but it can be tough if you’re a beginner.

I love Golden Horseshoe too!
Can be tough for beginners.
But they offer great lessons for newbies. It’s worth checking out!

What about the course conditions? I’ve heard some say Kingsmill was not kept as well last season. Any truth to that?

I played there last month and it was in excellent shape! Might have just been an off season for some.

I’d recommend checking out the Ford’s Colony. The courses there are stunning and blend challenge with beauty—perfect for a memorable round!

I played Ford’s Colony a few weeks ago!
Stunning combination.
Just beautiful, but it can be quite crowded on weekends.

I think all these courses sound great, but can anyone share some funny moments they’ve had while playing golf in Williamsburg?

Once I teed off, and my ball ended up in a sand trap right next to a couple of deer! Hilarious and utterly embarrassing!

It’s great to hear everyone’s thoughts! No matter the course, just remember it’s all about having fun out there, right?

Hi everyone! I’ve played at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club a few times. Great amenities including a lovely clubhouse and restaurant. They also have a well-stocked pro shop for gear! Definitely worth a visit.

I can second that! The pro shop at Williamsburg National is fantastic too. They have all the latest equipment, and the staff is super helpful!

Don’t forget about the Cart Path Grill at the Colonial Heritage Golf Club! They offer delicious dining options on-site. It’s a fantastic way to refuel after a round.

True! I love how some of these courses have great food. Makes the whole experience better, doesn’t it?

Exactly! That level of instruction can really enhance your playing experience. Has anyone taken lessons there?
