What's Your Pick for the Top 100 Public Golf Courses in the US?

In my experience, don’t forget to check for seasonal deals! Many courses offer promotions during off-peak times, which can save you a lot.

I’m excited to discuss which public courses deserve to be in the top 100! Personally, I think Pebble Beach should definitely be in the top five for its breathtaking views and challenging design.

I agree, Pebble Beach is iconic! But I would argue that courses like Bethpage Black also deserve recognition for their difficulty and atmosphere.

Absolutely! Bethpage Black is a beast of a course! It challenges even the most seasoned golfers and has a rich history that adds to the experience.

I’m curious how everyone decides on their rankings? Is it just about beauty, or are we considering the overall golfing experience too?

That’s a great point, Cindy! For me, both aspects are crucial. A beautiful course that’s poorly maintained won’t make my list.

Speaking of maintenance, I’ve played a lot of public courses that have sublime layouts but lack in upkeep. That can ruin the experience altogether.

Exactly! A well-designed course can only shine if it’s kept in good condition. I’d love to hear about some lesser-known gems that fit this criteria.

I recommend checking out Torrey Pines. It’s not only beautiful, but the conditions and layout are consistently excellent. What does everyone else think?

Torrey Pines is great! I also love how public access is a priority there. It’s refreshing to play such a high-quality course without breaking the bank.

Just for laughs, anyone else played a public course that was so bad it changed their mind about golf for a day? I still chuckle when I think of the state of one course I tried!
