Best Flights to Bandon Dunes for Golfers?

Seeking Advice on Flights to Bandon Dunes

I’m planning a trip to the famed Bandon Dunes Golf Resort and I could really use some insights on finding the best flights to get there. As most of you know, Bandon is a well-known destination for golf enthusiasts, but I’m trying to figure out the most efficient way to travel without breaking the bank.

Here are some details about my travel plans:

  • Travel Dates: Looking at a trip in mid-August.
  • Departure Location: I’m based in San Francisco, but I’m flexible with my departure city if there are better options.
  • Group Size: Traveling with a couple of friends (so we’ll need transportation for multiple people once we land).

Specific Questions:

  1. Best Airports: Which airport should I aim for? Is it better to fly directly into Coos Bay or should I consider a bigger airport like Eugene?
  2. Flight Options: Are there any airlines you recommend based on experiences you’ve had? Any tips on snagging the best fares?
  3. Travel Recommendations: After landing, what’s the best way to get to the resort? Should we rent a car, or is there shuttle service?
  4. Accommodation tips: If people have experiences with itinerary/clubs or lodging that would also be super helpful!

I’m super excited about this trip, but the logistics are giving me a bit of a headache. Any advice or resources you can share would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bandon Dunes is amazing! The closest major airport is Eugene (EUG), about 2 hours away by car. It’s a small airport, but you can find decent flights and it feels convenient.

I’ve flown into North Bend (OTH). It’s super close to Bandon Dunes, only about 30 minutes away. However, flights are limited and usually more expensive.

Also, consider Medford (MFR). It’s slightly further (about 2.5 hours), but sometimes offers cheaper flights and more options. Just a thought!

North Bend sounds great, but are Ubers available from the airport? It could be inconvenient if I have to rent a car just for that drive.

Yes, Ubers are available from North Bend, but it’s wise to book in advance, as they can be scarce at times.

If you’re flying into Eugene, I recommend renting a car. It’s a beautiful drive to the resort, and you’ll have more flexibility once you’re there.

True, but parking at Bandon Dunes can be tight during peak season. Just make sure to manage your time!

I’d recommend exploring shuttle services from Eugene, too. A few companies do regular routes to Bandon which might save you the hassle of driving.

Sounds promising! Have you used any of those shuttle services before?

I haven’t, but I’ve heard good things about them! They can be convenient if you’re a big group.

Make sure to check the shuttle schedules, though, as they can be limited, especially on weekends. Nobody wants to be stranded!

So many choices! But who would want to miss a round because of travel woes? LOL.

True! Let’s hope we all figure it out before our next trip.

Looking back, my last trip was so worth it. Just plan ahead, and the flights will be a breeze!

I agree, it’s about the journey too. Sometimes the stress of travel can make the experience richer when you finally get to unwind on the course.

For the best flight deals to Bandon Dunes, I’ve found that booking about 6-8 weeks in advance usually gets you the best prices. Websites like Kayak and Google Flights are great to compare deals!

Absolutely! I’d also recommend being flexible with your travel dates. Flying on weekdays often results in cheaper fares compared to weekends.

Has anyone tried using budget airlines? I booked a flight with one to a nearby city and saved a ton! Just be mindful of the extra fees though.

Good point! I once missed out on a great deal because I didn’t account for baggage fees. Always check that before booking!
