Hey fellow golfers! I’m planning a trip to Austin, Texas and I’m looking for some recommendations on the best public golf courses in the area. I’m an avid golfer, but I haven’t had the chance to play in Austin before. I’m hoping to find a course (or a few) that offers a great golfing experience, beautiful scenery, and is reasonably priced. If you’ve played at any public courses in Austin, I’d love to hear your thoughts. What did you enjoy most about the course? Were there any standout features or challenges? And importantly, what’s the best way to get the most value for my money? I’m open to both municipal and privately-owned public courses, as long as they provide an excellent golfing experience.Any advice or personal experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. I want to make the most of my time in Austin, so I’m eager to hear your recommendations on the best public golf options. Thanks in advance for your help!
For budget-friendly public golf in Austin, I highly recommend Riverside Golf Course. Great course conditions, and the green fees are very reasonable compared to other public options in the area.
Can’t agree more! Riverside is definitely the best bang for your buck in my opinion.
Another great budget-friendly option is the Jimmy Clay Golf Course. It’s a bit further out from downtown, but the green fees are super affordable and the course is in good shape.
I’m a big fan of Lions Municipal Golf Course - it’s a classic Austin public course with a lot of history and character. The green fees are very reasonable for the quality of the course.
Has anyone played Morris Williams Golf Course? I’ve heard it’s a good value but I’m curious to know more about the course conditions and overall experience.
I played there a few months ago and thought the conditions were pretty solid. Greens were in good shape and the layout was fun, though not the most challenging course. Definitely good value for the money.
Personally, my favorite budget-friendly public course in Austin is Balcones Country Club. The greens are always in great shape and the pace of play is really good, even on weekends.
Interesting, I’ll have to check that one out. I’m always on the hunt for good value public golf in the area.
Has anyone played the recent renovations at Roy Kizer Golf Course? I heard they improved the course conditions but I’m wondering if the green fees are still reasonable.
I played there last month and was really impressed. The renovations made the course conditions top-notch, and the green fees are still very affordable. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a great public golf value in Austin.
Looks like there are a lot of great budget-friendly public golf options in Austin to choose from. I’ll have to try a few of these courses out and see which one is the best fit for my game and my wallet!
I’ve played there a few times and agree, it’s a really solid public course. The greens can be challenging but the course is in great shape.
For a more affordable public option, I’d recommend Morris Williams Golf Course. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but the layout is still quite enjoyable.
Has anyone played Onion Creek Club? I heard they have excellent practice facilities but I’m curious about the overall course conditions and amenities.
Yeah, Onion Creek is a really nice public option. The course is always in great shape and the practice range is top-notch. The clubhouse has a decent restaurant too.
I’d have to disagree, Onion Creek is way overpriced for a public course. There are much better values out there in the Austin area.
I’m a big fan of Teravista Golf Club. The course conditioning is excellent and they have all the amenities you could want, like a driving range, pro shop, and restaurant. Highly recommended!
Teravista is a great choice. I played there last month and the greens were in fantastic shape. The layout is challenging but fair. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a premier public course in Austin.
Has anyone played Balcones Country Club? I heard it’s a hidden gem with reasonable rates for the quality of the course.
