Callaway ERC Soft vs Chrome Soft: Which One Should I Choose?

I’m in the market for new golf balls and can’t decide between the Callaway ERC Soft and the Chrome Soft. I’ve heard both have their strengths but also different feels and performance characteristics.

Performance Comparison

  • Spin: I’ve seen reviews mentioning that the Chrome Soft tends to provide more spin around the greens, which can be a game-changer for short game performance.
  • Launch Trajectory: The ERC Soft is said to offer a higher launch, which might help with my distance.
  • Feel: Which ball has a better feel off the club? I’ve read mixed opinions on this.

Personal Experience

If anyone has switched between these two or has experience with both, I would love to hear your thoughts! How did each ball perform for you in terms of distance, control, and overall experience?

Recommendations

Are there any other balls I should consider in this comparison? I’m looking to enhance my game and want to make an informed decision before buying.

Thank you in advance for your insights!

I’ve noticed that the Callaway ERC Soft provides a bit more distance off the tee compared to the Chrome Soft. Anyone else experience this?

In my opinion, the Chrome Soft gives better greenside control. The spin is impressive, which helps with short game.

I definitely agree! The ERC Soft has been longer for my drives, but the Chrome Soft feels nicer with approaches and putts.

Absolutely! I found that when chipping, Chrome Soft really grabs the green well.

Between the two, I think it really comes down to what you value more: distance or feel. Personally, I prefer the feel of the Chrome Soft.

The feel of the ERC Soft is also quite nice, but I wonder if it sacrifices too much spin for those long drives. Thoughts?

That’s a great point! I feel like it’s a trade-off, depending on the player’s style of play.

I love how the Chrome Soft feels during putts. There’s a soft touch that the ERC Soft lacks. It’s so satisfying when you sink a putt!

Right? The feel for putting is big for me too. This makes a huge difference in confidence.

Has anyone tried both on the course? I’ve been curious about which performs better under windy conditions.

I played the ERC Soft last weekend, and it held up well even in the wind! I’d say it’s quite stable.

Though I think Callaway should just combine the best of both into one ball. Wouldn’t that be something?

Now that would be a game-changer! Mixing the best features would really appeal to a wide range of players.

I ended up playing the ERC Soft this week and found it surprisingly good for my fade. More distance too. It really surprised me!

Both seem great! Why can’t I just have everything without spending a fortune? Golf can be so pricey!

That’s the truth! Maybe they need a subscription model where we can sample both balls! Wouldn’t that be fun?

I’ve been using the Callaway ERC Soft for a while, and I think it’s worth the price. It offers great feel and distance. I find it more durable than many other options.

I’ve heard good things too! But how does the Chrome Soft compare in terms of value? Anyone tried both?

The Chrome Soft is also fantastic! It provides a softer feel around the greens, which I personally love. Pricing is similar, but I think it might be worth the extra couple of bucks if you prioritize short game performance.
