I recently played at the Dallas National Golf Club and the greens were in pristine condition! It’s one of my favorites around.

That’s great to hear! I’ve never played there. How would you rate the overall aesthetics?

The aesthetics at Dallas National are stunning. The landscape is beautifully maintained, and the views are just incredible!

I played at the Cowboys Golf Club last week, and while the fairways were okay, the greens were really slow and not well-kept.

That’s disappointing to hear! I read some reviews about Cowboys, but I wasn’t sure how valid they were.

I think the greens are critical for a good round! Have you tried Brookhaven Country Club? Their conditions have been consistent, especially in the summer.

Actually, Brookhaven had some rough patches earlier this season, but it did improve by the spring! Overall though, a solid course.

To your point, it seems many courses go through up-and-down phases during the year.

I’ve found that it varies quite a bit. I played at Luna Vista not too long ago and was surprised by the great fairways but mediocre greens.

Haha, I guess that’s golfing for you—one day you’re scoring birdies, and the next you’re just trying to not lose your ball in the rough! I can relate, Brandon.

In my experience, many Dallas courses do well on maintenance, but some just seem to struggle. Have you all noticed any trends?

That’s an interesting point! I suppose it often depends on management and funding.

Exactly. I feel like those with a better budget tend to have better conditions. What do you think about the public versus private course debate?

Well, when I played at some public courses like Keeton Park, I found it can be hit or miss. Some days were great, others not so much!

I agree with you, Nelson. The inconsistency can be frustrating! And sometimes, it can feel like a gamble on course selection.

That’s a fair point. Just the other day, I was tempted by a special at Tenison Park but hesitated because of past experiences. Should I risk it?

Sometimes taking a risk pays off; other times, not so much! Worth trying if you’re feeling adventurous, Rebecca!

I’ve played several courses around Dallas, and access is pretty good overall. Most are within a 30-minute drive from downtown!
