Looking for Recommendations on the Best Public Golf Courses in Sarasota

I’m planning a trip to Sarasota soon and I’m hoping to squeeze in some golfing while I’m there! :palm_tree::golf: I’ve heard about quite a few public golf courses in the area, but I’m not sure which ones are truly the best.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Course Quality: How well-maintained are the courses? I prefer a place that feels lush and cared for.
  • Layout: I love a good challenge! Any courses that have interesting layouts or unique features?
  • Pricing: I’m not a pro, so I’d love to know which courses offer good value for the money. Any hidden gems?
  • Overall Experience: What’s the atmosphere like? If you have thoughts on clubhouses, amenities, or just the general vibe of the places, I’d love to hear about it.

If you have any personal favorites or experiences to share, or can point me towards some lists or reviews, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help! :raised_hands:

I’m a huge fan of the Legacy Golf Club in Sarasota! The scenery is breathtaking and the course is well maintained. Plus, it’s a challenging course for all skill levels.

Legacy is great! But have you tried the TPC Prestancia? It has some fantastic amenities and the layout is just stunning!

I actually prefer the Gulf Gate Golf Club. It’s perfect for a quick round and the staff is super friendly. Great for beginners!

TPC Prestancia is definitely on my list! Can anyone comment on the difficulty level there?

I’ve played TPC, and it can be tough if you’re not a seasoned player. But the rewards of playing there are worth it. Beautiful that time of year!

Don’t forget about the Sarasota National Golf Club! The wildlife and landscape around there is just incredible. I always feel like I’m in a national park while I play.

I’ve heard great things about Sarasota National! Is it usually crowded, or can you easily get a tee time?

Sarasota National can get busy on weekends, but weekdays are pretty open. Totally worth it for the scenery alone!

Just played at the North Port Golf Club last week. It’s a hidden gem! The course is affordable and has some unique holes that really test your skills.

Nice! I haven’t heard much about North Port. Is it challenging?

It’s not overly challenging, but there are a few tricky holes. Perfect for a laid-back game with friends!

Anyone up for some golf humor? I heard golf is a lot like taxes: you drive hard to get to the green and then end up in the hole!

Haha, that’s a good one! Just hope my score doesn’t give me a headache like tax season does!

For beginners, I highly recommend the Bobby Jones Golf Club. It’s friendly and has a forgiving layout. Perfect place to learn without too much pressure!

You can’t go wrong with Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch for seasoned golfers! It offers some real challenges, especially on the back nine. Just watch out for the water hazards!

Exactly, @lfuentes! Experienced players will enjoy the nuances at Tatum Ridge Golf Links. Just be prepared to use all your clubs with that tricky layout!

Don’t forget to check the tee times to avoid crowds, especially on weekends. It can get pretty hectic at some of the popular courses!

Absolutely! I always book early morning tee times. It’s cooler and less crowded. Perfect for practicing my swing.
