Stealth Irons vs P790: Which One Should I Choose?

I’m in the market for new irons and I’ve been looking into the TaylorMade Stealth irons and the P790s. From what I’ve read, both of these sets have their strengths, but I’m trying to understand how they stack up against each other.

Performance & Forgiveness

  • Stealth Irons: I’ve heard they offer great forgiveness and distance, which is ideal for mid-handicap players. The feel and feedback sound pretty nice too.
  • P790: These clubs are often praised for their advanced technology and distance. I know they also have a certain appeal when it comes to aesthetics on the course.

Which is More Suitable for Different Skill Levels?

I’m curious, do folks feel like one is better suited for beginners versus advanced players? I’ve seen some user reviews that rave about the Stealth irons for those looking to improve, whereas the P790 seems to have a loyal following among better players.

User Experiences

If anyone has had experience with either (or both) of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts! How did they perform for you in terms of distance, accuracy, and overall feel? I’m really hoping to make a decision soon, so any insights or side-by-side comparisons would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I’ve been using Stealth Irons for a few months now, and I’ve found the distance to be impressive! They seem to fly longer than my old clubs.

That’s great to hear! I’ve read that the sweet spot on the Stealths helps with forgiveness. How do they perform on mishits compared to the P790?

I switched from P790 to Stealth Irons recently and can confirm that the P790s are less forgiving. They give excellent distance but tend to punish you more on off-center hits.

That’s interesting! So would you say the Stealths have better accuracy overall?

Absolutely! The Stealths have better consistency on off-center hits, which is a game-changer for my accuracy in approach shots.

I agree with you, johnbuckley! Getting the ball straight is my top priority, especially when playing on tricky courses where precision is key.

But don’t forget, the P790s have a great feel and can really launch the ball for those who can hit the sweet spot. They’re still a popular choice for low handicappers.

I can’t help but wonder if the forgiveness of the Stealth Irons is worth giving up that feel that the P790s offer. Can anyone comment on that?

Great question! The feel is subjective, but I think many can adapt to Stealths quickly. I did, and I’m loving them now!

What about distance comparison? Are the Stealth Irons really longer, or is it just hype? I’ve heard mixed reviews.

From my experience, the Stealths do add a bit more distance. It’s like they have a hidden turbo mode! I was surprised at first, but now I expect it.

Haha, hidden turbo mode! That’s hilarious! I think that helps justify the price difference too.

Totally get that dominique19! If consistency is your goal, the Stealth Irons might be a wise choice. They seem to help most players achieve that.

Just to stir the pot a bit, I still prefer my P790s. The distance combined with the feel keeps me coming back. It’s all about personal preference!

I’ve been comparing the Stealth Irons and P790s recently. In terms of design, the Stealth Irons have a very sleek look at address, which I find appealing. The use of carbon material adds an interesting touch to its aesthetics.

I’ve noticed that too, but I think P790s do a fantastic job with their aesthetic appeal. The chrome finish really catches the eye, especially under sunlight.

Both clubs feel really solid! The build quality of the Stealth Irons is impressive, but P790s have a more traditional feel. It might come down to whether you prefer modern vs classic designs.

I’m leaning towards the Stealth Irons for their modern aesthetics! However, I’d love to know if anyone has feedback on how the feel compares when striking the ball.

Great question, pbryan! In my experience, Stealth Irons give a softer feel at impact, but P790s offer great feedback that helps with shot shaping. Design-wise, though, both look great at address.
