Taylormade M4 vs M6 Irons: Which One Should I Choose?

I’m looking to buy a new set of irons and can’t decide between the TaylorMade M4 and M6 models. I’ve done a bit of research, but I would love to get some firsthand feedback from anyone who has tried both.

Here’s what I’m curious about:

  • Performance: How do they compare in terms of distance and forgiveness?
  • Feel: Is there a noticeable difference in the feel at impact?
  • Design Features: Are there any standout features that make one better than the other?
  • User Experience: What do you guys think about the overall experience with each set?

I’m hoping to get a better sense of which irons might be more suited to my game. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve been using the Taylormade M4 irons for a year now, and I really appreciate their forgiveness. I often play on tricky courses, and these clubs have helped my game a lot.

Interesting! I’ve tried both and found the M6 irons to be a bit longer and more consistent on the sweet spot. Anyone else feel the same?

I play with M4s, and while they are forgiving, I noticed the M6s seem to have better distance control. Did anyone else notice that during their rounds?

For sure! The M6s seem to provide more feedback on mishits. It helps me adjust my swing better.

What about shot trajectory? I feel like my M4s give me a higher flight, which can be beneficial in windy conditions. Thoughts?

I’m with you, Thomas! The M4s do tend to pop up higher. However, the M6s have a slight edge for those needing a lower flight for control.

Has anyone tried hitting off different lies with both models? I found the M6s performed better from the rough.

Great point, yweaver! The M6s did feel better out of the rough for me too. It was a game changer for some of those tough approach shots.

While both sets are great, the M4s give me that nostalgic feel. Sometimes I think I play better with clubs that feel familiar.

I totally get that, Nathaniel! There’s just something about trusting your clubs that makes a huge difference in performance & confidence.

Anyone notice the difference in feel between the two? The M6s have this solid sensation on impact that I really like.

I agree, Michael! The M6s have a great feel, but I still think the M4 has that classic solid knock when you hit it right.

That’s true! But isn’t it fun to argue about which iron feels better? It’s like choosing between cake and pie!

Haha, the classic cake vs pie debate! I guess in the end, it all comes down to personal preference and what works best for each of us. Happy swinging!

The M4 and M6 irons have some key differences in design. The M6 features the Speed Bridge technology which enhances distance and consistency, while the M4 doesn’t have that. The Face Slot in M6 also helps with off-center hits. It might not seem like much, but it can make a difference on the course.

That’s a great point about the Speed Bridge. The feel and feedback from the M6 are noticeably better because of that tech. I played with both during a demo day, and the M6 felt more responsive through impact!

The materials used in both clubs are also important. M6 uses a more advanced composite material which helps in reducing weight while maintaining strength. This could be beneficial for those who want more swing speed.

Absolutely! The lighter club weight of the M6 really allows for better swing dynamics, especially for players looking to enhance their performance without changing their swing mechanics.

I’ve been told that playability with the M6 is better due to the improved forgiveness from the Face Slot technology. How have people found this in real play?
