Vokey D Grind Review - What's the Scoop?

I’ve been hearing a lot about the Titleist Vokey D Grind wedges lately and I’m curious to know what everyone’s experiences have been.

Performance and Versatility

How do these wedges perform for different types of shots? I play a range of courses and sometimes find myself needing a versatile wedge that can handle both tight lies and fluffier spots around the greens.

Bounce and Manipulation

I’m particularly interested in feedback regarding the bounce. How well does it perform in various conditions? Can you manipulate it easily around the greens?

Comparisons with Other Grinds

For those of you who have tried the M grind as well, how would you compare it to the D grind? Are there notable differences in handling?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and any tips you might have for getting the most out of these wedges. Your insights would definitely help me (and I’m sure others) make a more informed decision before hitting that buy button!

I recently tried the Vokey D grind on firm turf, and I have to say it works wonders for crisp contact. You can really feel the ball explode off the face! Just be cautious of really tight lies.

I found that the Vokey D grind really struggles on soft turf. It tends to dig in a little too much for my liking. Any tips for dealing with that?

I totally agree! The D grind excels in firm conditions. Anyone had luck using it in sandy lies?

I’ve had similar experiences. On soft ground, I try to play a little more upright with my swing to avoid digging.

I love how versatile the Vokey D grind is, especially on sandy lies! I can manipulate it for various shots. It provides great feel and control around the greens.

Anyone else notice how the D grind can feel a bit skaty on soft grass? I always carry a higher bounce as a backup for those conditions.

Absolutely! It’s a game-changer for short game shots. I’m always looking for ways to maximize that versatility.

One tip for using the Vokey D grind on sandy lies: aim to make a shallow cut. It helps to prevent the club from getting too buried.

Has anyone tried modifying their grip while using the D grind? I feel like a lighter grip gives better feedback on varying turf conditions.

I haven’t tried that yet, but it sounds interesting! I usually just focus on my stance.

I think the D grind is like a toddler at a buffet—sometimes it digs in (soft turf) and sometimes it just skims over (firm turf). Always keep it guessing!

I’m really impressed with the Vokey D grind! Its versatility on different lies makes it standout compared to the C grind. Anyone else noticed how well it performs in tight lies?

I agree! I switched from the C grind to the D grind and it feels like I have much more control. Especially in the rough, it just glides right through!

I’ve had similar experiences! The D grind definitely holds its weight against the others, especially with flop shots. Just seems to spin better. Anyone tried it in wet conditions?

I’ve used the D grind during our last rainy round and it performed surprisingly well! The extra bounce really helps prevent digging. It’s reassuring to know I can rely on it no matter the conditions.

I see a lot of love for the D grind but how does it stack against other brands? I feel like some Cleveland wedges can compete in that area. Thoughts?

It’s a valid point! I found Cleveland wedges have a bit more forgiveness, but there’s a feel with the D grind that’s hard to replicate. What do others think?

Comparing grinds is tough! I think it really depends on your playing style. The D grind suits my open-face shots better than the others, but some might prefer a more traditional grind for their touch.

True, the personal preference is key! I’ve noticed that when I’m playing with tight lies, the D grind feels more forgiving than others while still providing a sharp edge for artistry. Wouldn’t change it for anything!
