What are the Best Golf Courses in London?

I’m planning a trip to London soon and want to squeeze in some golf while I’m there. I’ve heard mixed reviews about various courses in the area, so I’m looking for the best golf courses in London. If you have any top recommendations, I would love to hear about your experiences!

What to Consider

Here are a few aspects I’m considering:

  • Location: I’ll be staying in Central London, so courses that are easily accessible via public transport would be ideal.
  • Course Quality: I’m looking for courses known for their design and maintenance.
  • Visitor-Friendly: Since I’m a tourist, it would be great to find places that are accommodating to visitors, perhaps with rental clubs available.

Popular Courses I’ve Heard About

Some courses like The Wentworth Club and Royal Wimbledon Golf Club keep coming up in discussions. Are they worth the visit? What about Brockett Hall Golf Club or Hurtmore Golf Club? Any insights?

If you’re looking for some of the best golf courses in London, I recommend checking out Sunningdale Golf Club. It’s consistently ranked among the top and the scenery is stunning.

I would also suggest Royal Wimbledon Golf Club. It’s got rich history and a great layout. The atmosphere is just fantastic, perfect for a day out.

Totally agree! Sunningdale is amazing. The challenge it presents is like no other. Have you played any other courses, taylorkyle?

I’ve heard of that one! How does it compare in terms of difficulty? I’m still working on my swing!

I found Royal Wimbledon quite manageable, but they have some challenging holes. If you want more of a challenge, go for the Wentworth Club. Just beautiful!

Wentworth is elite! I’ve played there several times. The members are quite friendly too, which is a bonus!

Have any of you tried out The Grove? It’s more modern but offers a great experience and top-notch facilities that can rival the classic courses.

I played The Grove last summer. Their greens are top-notch! But how do you feel about modern courses versus traditional ones?

I prefer traditional ones, but I see the appeal of modern aesthetics. Every course has its charm. Just be aware of the dress codes!

True! I once wore the wrong shoes at a fancy course and it was hilarious! But seriously, anyone looking for a good laugh when golfing?

I’m a big fan of the Richmond Park Golf Course! It’s reasonably priced and offers a lovely setting. Definitely worth checking out if you want quality without breaking the bank.

I’ve also heard good things about this course! Do they have any membership deals that aren’t too costly?

Yes! Richmond Park offers a variety of membership options that provide discounts on green fees. Plus, they have seasonal deals that make it even more affordable!

If you’re willing to venture a bit out of the city, check out the courses in Kent. I found some really nice ones under £50 per round, which is a steal!

I agree! But do you think they match up to the quality of those in London?

Absolutely! I’ve played at several courses in Kent, and they often surprise me with their quality, especially for the price. Some courses even have better maintenance than London clubs.

Has anyone tried the Pay-and-Play courses in London? They can be quite economical, but I’m curious about how they fare in terms of experience and condition.

I found them to be hit or miss. Some are in great shape while others need some attention. Worth it if you’re not too picky!

Remember to look out for off-peak rates, especially in the evenings or on weekdays. That said, planning a round during a hot summer weekend might be chaotic!
