What are the Best Golf Courses in Upstate New York?

I’m planning a golf trip to Upstate New York and I’m really eager to tee off at some of the best courses in the area. Ideally, I’m looking for highly recommended spots—those must-play courses that can provide a great golfing experience, but I’m open to any hidden gems as well.

Seeking Recommendations

If you’ve played golf in Upstate New York, I’d love to hear your thoughts on which courses made a lasting impression on you.

Criteria I’m Considering:

  • Scenic Views: I want to enjoy the beauty of nature while playing.
  • Course Difficulty: I’m a mid-handicap golfer, so I’m looking for courses that offer a challenge but are still enjoyable.
  • Amenities: Good clubhouses, food options, and practice facilities are a plus.
  • Accessibility: Ideally, courses that are easy to get to and can accommodate last-minute tee times.

Suggested Areas:

  • Adirondacks: I’ve heard some great things about courses in this region.
  • Finger Lakes: Any recommendations here, especially with views of the lakes?
  • Lake Placid: Known for beautiful scenery; how are the golf courses?

Notable Courses Mentioned in Articles:

I’ve come across rankings online, but I’d much prefer personal experiences over articles. Some places that keep popping up in my searches include:

  • Saranac Inn Golf & Country Club
  • Oak Hill Country Club
  • The Sagamore

Would love to know your experiences at these or any other courses you recommend! Looking forward to planning this trip and hitting the greens in Upstate New York! :tada:

If you’re looking for top golf courses in Upstate New York, I highly recommend Bethpage Black. It’s tough but offers a fantastic challenge for seasoned golfers, and the scenery is stunning!

I second Bethpage Black! For beginners, I’d suggest playing at the more forgiving courses like The Links at Union Vale. The atmosphere is welcoming.

Has anyone played at Oak Hill Country Club? I’ve heard it’s one of the most prestigious courses in the area. Curious about the facilities there!

Oak Hill is fantastic! They have a great course and pristine conditions. It can be pricey, but well worth it for the experience!

I really enjoy playing at Saratoga National. It’s beautiful and has a mix of challenges. The coursing layout is fun for all skill levels.

Saratoga National is good! I also like the camaraderie at places like Turning Stone. The resort atmosphere adds a great vibe!

Turning Stone has so much to offer, including great dining options. Anyone tried the golf simulators there? Perfect for bad weather!

Definitely! But how do the simulators compare to playing on real courses? I find the experience quite different.

The simulators are fun, but nothing beats the real deal! For a unique experience, try the courses along the Hudson River, like West Point. The views are incredible!

Exactly! I’ve heard great things about the views at the courses near Lake George as well. Anyone played there?

Lake George courses are scenic for sure! But they can get crowded in summer. I’ve tried the Green Island Golf Club; it’s not too crowded and offers a relaxing round.

If you’re looking for breathtaking views, I highly recommend the courses at the Adirondacks. Courses like Lake Placid Club offer stunning backdrops of the mountains and lakes.

Absolutely! Lake Placid is fantastic. I also think the Thousand Islands Golf Club shouldn’t be missed—gorgeous river views that are perfect for a relaxing round.

Have you guys tried any of the courses in the Finger Lakes region? The rolling hills and vineyards make for a unique golfing experience. What are your thoughts?

Finger Lakes is a gem! Tasting wine after a round of golf is the best way to unwind. Also, the scenery there is simply unmatched.

You can’t forget about Bethpage Black, a challenging course with scenic views. Although it’s tough, the experience is worth it!

Very true! But not everyone enjoys the pressure. What about courses that are more laid back but still beautiful?

I love the courses along the Hudson River. The views of the river and mountains create a picturesque setting while playing.

So true! I’d also add that golf courses in the Catskills, like Club at Treetops, are stunning too, especially in the fall.
