What are the best golf courses in Virginia?

Seeking the Best Golf in Virginia

I’m planning a golfing trip to Virginia and I want to make sure I hit the best courses in the state. I’ve heard a lot about how beautiful the courses are, but I’m struggling to find reliable information on which ones really stand out. Are there any particular courses you would recommend? I’m interested in both public courses and private ones.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Course Layout: I love courses that offer a good mix of challenges and scenic views.
  • Amenities: Restaurants, pro shops, and practice facilities are all important to me!
  • Pricing: Any insight on what to expect in terms of green fees would be super helpful.

Some Specific Questions:

  • Are there any hidden gems that aren’t widely publicized?
  • How do the courses in Virginia rank compared to neighboring states?
  • What’s the best time of year to play?

I’m really looking for a mix of personal experiences and any rankings you’ve come across. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

I’ve played a lot of courses in Virginia, and one of my favorites is the River Course at Virginia Tech. The views are amazing, and the layout is challenging but fair.

I totally agree! The River Course is beautiful. Have you tried any of the courses in the Shenandoah Valley? They’re stunning too!

I recently played at the Homestead and was blown away by the historic feel and the quality of the course. Definitely worth the price!

The Homestead is fantastic! However, has anyone else had issues with pace of play there?

I had an incredible experience at Kingsmill Resort. The course was in pristine condition, and the staff was super friendly.

Kingsmill is nice, but I heard it’s getting a bit pricey. Is there a better option for budget golfers?

If you’re looking for budget options, check out Lake Monticello Golf Club. It’s affordable and has some solid holes.

That sounds great! What’s the best time to go there to avoid crowds?

I recommend going during the weekday mornings; it’s usually less crowded and you can play at a more relaxed pace.

Good tip! I’m planning a trip to Virginia soon. Any hidden gems I should know about?

Definitely check out the courses around Charlottesville. I’ve had some memorable rounds there at places like UVa Golf Course.

Thanks for the recommendation! By the way, does anyone have a favorite golf app for tracking scores?

I’ve heard that the Virginia State Open is coming up soon! It’s a great event to see top talents. You can find details on how to participate at the VSGA website.

That sounds exciting! Does anyone know where the event will be held this year?

The Virginia State Open takes place at the Country Club of Virginia this year. If you want to participate, registration closes soon!

That venue is lovely! I’ve been there a couple of times for other events.

Is anyone planning to attend the Virginia Golf Expo next month? It’s a great place to check out new equipment and meet other golfers!

Do you guys know if there will be any tournaments during the Expo? I’m looking for more events to compete in.
