What are the current conditions at the HSV golf courses?

I’m planning a golf outing in Hot Springs Village (HSV) soon and want to get a feel for what the course conditions are like. There seems to be quite a bit of variability depending on the weather lately, so I figured I would reach out to the community to see if anyone has some recent experiences to share.

Current Conditions

  • Are there specific courses that are playing better than others right now?
  • How’s the turf holding up after recent rains? Any issues with waterlogged areas?
  • What about the greens? Are they fast and true, or are they slow and bumpy?

Recent Weather Influences

It seems the weather has been changing quite a bit. If anyone has played recently, please share how the conditions were post-rain or after any hot spells.

Planning Ahead

For those of you who have good knowledge of HSV golf courses, it would be great if you could answer these questions:

  • Which days tend to be less crowded?
  • Are there any special deals or memberships that make it worthwhile to play?

Looking forward to your thoughts and any tips you might have. Thanks in advance!

I’ve played at HSV courses recently, and the fairways are in great condition! The grass is lush and well-manicured, making for an enjoyable round.

I played on Lakewood the other day, and frankly, the water hazards are a bit overgrown. They could use some trimming to enhance the playability.

That’s awesome to hear, Victoria! I’ve also noticed the greens are rolling nicely—fast but true. What courses did you play?

I totally agree, Mitchell. A clear view can make a big difference. But overall, I’m pleased with how they maintain the courses.

I feel like the tee boxes at some courses have been neglected lately. Has anyone else noticed this? It’s impacting the overall experience for me.

You’re right, Sara. I found quite a few uneven tee boxes last time I played. It’s a bit frustrating but not a deal-breaker.

The greens on the Mountain course seem to have some patches—definitely an area they need to focus on. Anyone have thoughts on how they’re addressing it?

Yeah, those patches are noticeable. They were putting slow on my last round, but I’ve seen them improve before. Let’s hope they get on top of it.

I had a delightful time last weekend and didn’t mind some of the rough spots. The atmosphere and the camaraderie were fantastic!

Absolutely, Eddie! Golf isn’t just about the course; it’s about the experience with friends too!

I think we can all agree that while some conditions could improve, the staff is generally very friendly and responsive!

True! They’re open to feedback, which is refreshing. It makes me want to support the courses more.

I wonder how often they do maintenance on the courses. Seems like it varies a lot depending on the season.

Great question, E! I’ve seen them out there during the week a lot lately, but maybe they need a more regular schedule.

I had an interesting encounter with a squirrel during my last round. Definitely got distracted by him more than I should have!

I’ve been playing at the HSV golf courses for a few months and can say that summer is definitely the best time! The greens are well-kept, but during the rainy season, they can get pretty soggy.

Squirrels: the unofficial hazards of golf! At least it was entertaining—it’s all about the little things!

I agree! Summer is beautiful, but I’ve noticed that the fall brings a unique atmosphere. The leaves can be a bit messy but overall enjoyable.

Winter can be tough for golf here. Most courses are closed due to frost. But if you catch a sunny day, you might have the course to yourself!
