Any Recommendations for the Best Golf Courses Near Asheville, NC?

Asheville, NC, is a beautiful area with some fantastic golf courses, and I’m looking to gather recommendations on the best ones to check out. Whether you’re playing with friends or planning a special event like a bachelor party, I want to know about both public and private courses that offer a great golfing experience.

What I’m Looking For

I’m particularly interested in:

  • Course Quality: How well-maintained are the courses? What’s the difficulty level?
  • Amenities: Do the courses have great facilities like clubhouses, pro shops, or dining options?
  • Suitability for Events: Are there courses that can accommodate larger groups or have packages for events?
  • Scenic Views: I love courses with beautiful landscapes. Any spots with breathtaking views?
  • Pricing: I’d also love to hear about the pricing – any courses that offer good value for money?

A Bit About My Golfing Style

I’m an amateur golfer with a handicap in the mid-range. I enjoy a mix of challenging courses and those that are more relaxed. I appreciate any insights into what courses might cater to both types of play.

I’ve done a little research, and I’ve seen recommendations that include some popular names, but I’d love to hear personal experiences. Any tips? Also, if you’ve planned a golfing trip to this area, what courses did you include in your itinerary?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Asheville has some great beginner-friendly courses! I recommend the Asheville Municipal Golf Course. It’s not overly challenging and has a relaxed atmosphere.

Absolutely! I’ve heard good things about the Reems Creek Golf Club too. It’s beautiful and welcoming for new golfers.

I’ve played at the Grove Park Inn course, and while it’s stunning, I found it a bit challenging. Beginners might like the courses at the Asheville Golf Academy instead!

That’s a good point! I think a lesson at the Asheville Golf Academy could really help beginners get the hang of things before hitting the tougher courses.

I totally recommend the Broadmoor Golf Links! They have a great layout for casual players and offer clinics for those just starting out.

Yes! I’ve enjoyed Broadmoor, too. It’s a friendly course that makes golf fun without the pressure.

If you’re looking for a more relaxed pace, try the Country Club of Asheville. They have some nice amenities, and the staff are super helpful with beginners.

Yes, I believe they do! Weekend afternoons can get busy, though. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait on the tee, but it’s usually worth it.

Have you all checked out this new 9-hole course at Blue Ridge? It’s pretty laid-back and perfect for casual rounds with friends!

No, I haven’t! Sounds fun and it’s great for improving your short game for beginners!

Lest we forget; always check the local weather before heading out. If it rains, your golf game might turn into slip-and-slide episodes! :joy:

Haha, for sure! Just make sure to bring a spare pair of shoes, just in case!

Asheville has some amazing golf courses! I highly recommend the Grove Park Inn Golf Club. The views of the Blue Ridge Mountains are breathtaking, especially at sunset.

Absolutely! Another great option is the Reems Creek Golf Club. It not only has stunning scenery but also a challenging layout that’s fun for all skill levels.

Don’t forget about the Cliffs at Walnut Cove! It’s a bit more exclusive, but the natural landscapes and the clubhouse are top-notch.

I’ve played at Blue Ridge Mountain Club and it was fantastic. Just being out there surrounded by nature was a delight. Highly recommend!

That sounds wonderful! Is that course open to the public or does it require membership?

The course is semi-private. It’s definitely worth checking out if you can get a tee time. The scenery is just unbeatable!
