What Are the Best Golf Courses in Puerto Rico?

I’m planning a trip to Puerto Rico soon and I’m really excited about hitting the golf courses while I’m there. I’ve heard that Puerto Rico has some amazing golfing destinations, but I’m not sure where to start.

Looking for Recommendations

I’m hoping to get some recommendations for the best golf courses in the area. Are there any public or private courses that stand out? What makes them special?

Factors to Consider

Here are a few things I’m particularly interested in:

  • Course Quality: I love a good challenge, so I’m looking for courses that are well-maintained and offer great gameplay.
  • Scenic Views: If I can get some beautiful ocean views or stunning landscapes, that would be a huge bonus!
  • Accessibility: I’d prefer courses that are relatively easy to access, whether I’m staying in San Juan or elsewhere.
  • Additional Amenities: Any recommendations for clubs with nice facilities or those that offer golfing lessons would be appreciated as well.

Some Courses I’ve Heard About

I’ve seen some mentions of the following courses:

  • TPC Dorado Beach
  • Royal Isabela
  • El Conquistador

Have any of you played at these courses? How were your experiences? If you have any hidden gems or lesser-known courses that are great for a day of golf, please share!

Thanks in advance for your help. Looking forward to your suggestions!

Absolutely! The Ocean Course is beautiful, but I found it quite challenging. Make sure to bring your A-game!

What other courses should we consider? The reviews for the Westin Rio Mar are pretty solid too. Is it as good as they say?

I’d say the Westin Rio Mar is fantastic! The scenery is breathtaking, and both courses have unique challenges. Definitely worth checking out!

I’ve played at both the Coa Bay Golf Club and the Royal Isabela Golf Club. Royal Isabela impressed me with its cliffs and ocean views! Totally a must-play.

Totally agree! Royal Isabela has an amazing layout. It’s challenging but so rewarding. The design really embraces the natural landscape.

Has anyone experienced the courses at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar? How do they compare in terms of amenities and service?

I’ve heard the Wyndham Grand has great amenities, but some say the courses are a bit average. It’s hard to find one with it all!

That’s true! I guess each course has its strengths. I just love the tropical feel they all offer!

Don’t forget about the Palmas del Mar Golf Club! I had a blast there, and it’s a fun layout for all skill levels. Plus, the sunset views are unforgettable.

Palmas del Mar is indeed lovely, but I thought some holes were a bit repetitive. Still, the atmosphere is great for a laid-back round!

I think golfers of all levels can find something in Puerto Rico. I’m particularly interested in hearing what courses offer good beginner options.

I’d recommend the El Conquistador Resort course. It’s forgiving but still has some fun challenges!

I highly recommend checking out the all-inclusive resorts like the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar. They often have great golf packages that include meals and golf rounds.

Absolutely! Plus, you can find awesome stay-and-play deals at courses like the TPC Dorado Beach.

Don’t forget about the Puerto Rico Open! They have some special golf packages around the event if you plan your trip in that window.

If you’re flexible with dates, check out sites like GolfNow. They frequently offer discounted tee times across various courses.

Good tip! Booking ahead of time can really save you some money.

I’ve found that many resorts in Puerto Rico offer packages that bundle accommodation with unlimited golf for a truly relaxing experience.
